I live with my husband and two children in Coley and am honoured to have been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Reading West.
People across Reading tell me that they want a local MP with real life experience who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and work for our communities; someone who will put the people of Reading West first.
We also need a MP who will challenge unfair policies and will fight for ordinary people and that’s why I have put myself forward
I grew up in a working-class family, was educated at the local state schools and then took on endless student jobs to pay my way through university.
My career began at the BBC, where I worked on a number political and finance programmes for national radio and TV. Following post-graduate studies in voluntary sector management, I pursued a career in the charity sector, working on community projects in some of the most challenging countries in the developing world. I now run my own business based in the Thames Valley.
Reading West constituency needs an MP that will be out in the community all year round listening to local concerns and getting things done. That’s what I intend to do.
